daughter of Wahab, wife of Abdullah, mother of Muhammad. Because she was unable to breastfeed Muhammad, she gave him to a woman called Halima to nurse him. She died when Muhammad was six years old and he was cared for by his grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, and later by Abu Talib.
