ZERO
the Arabs were often credited with the invention of zero, supposedly
first mentioned in a Syria text in 662 A.D. The Romans and the Greeks
do not use a place value system. There are however, other claims that
they were invented by the Indians, passed through Europe via the
Arabs. Others, however, pointed out that the zero was first
used by the Assyrians, disappeared when their empire was destroyed and
later was reinvented by the Greeks and Arabs.
