History of the Blessed Hair
of the Beloved Prophet Muhammad

It is well-known that the Prophet (s) used to
distribute his blessed hairs when he shaved his head and whatever
fell from his beard to his Sahaba to keep for blessings, as is
related in the hadiths in the link below. It is recorded and known that three
blessed hairs of the Prophet (s), including the one currently in
the hands of Shaykh Hisham Kabbani, reached the hand of Sultan
Abdul Hamid Khan, II who received it in a direct lineage from the
preceding Sultans of the Ottoman Empire, from Sultan Selim up to
his time. Sultan Selim had received it directly from the Governor of Madina in
his time.
Of the three hairs
in the possession of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, he gave one to the
Shaykh al-Islam of the Ottoman Empire,
Sayyid Jamaluddin Effendi.
It was then handed down in succession until it reached the hands
of Shaykh Hisham Kabbani. The second hair remains at the Topkapi
Museum in Istanbul, where it is visited throughout the year by
thousands of Turks and Muslims from many other countries,
including scholars and common people, who come to take its
blessing. The third hair is in the hands of Shaykh Muhammad Nazim
al-Haqqani, in Turkey. The lineages of these three blessed hairs
of the Prophet (s) are recorded and certified in three different
specific certifications, and the hair in the possession of Shaykh
Hisham Kabbani is accompanied by its official certificate.
