Our Primary Purpose

A Woman´s Voice International is a nonprofit human rights organization committed to defending the dignity of women worldwide. As activists, we protest and condemn the actions of individuals, organizations or governments who use their power wrongfully to abuse helpless humanity. We also participate in programs designed to help women improve their economic and political futures for the betterment of all.
Our mission is to assist women in breaking the cycle of illiteracy and poverty that leads to victimization. Those we serve fall into the following categories: poor women with limited opportunities who are least likely to be considered of value by society, females regarded as second class citizens, victims of human rights abuses, and domestic violence.

Our Guiding Principles

  • We believe defenseless women and children suffer the most from wars, disease and famine.
  • We believe all people everywhere are commanded to exercise their beliefs by taking action against the forces of oppression and injustice.
  • We believe that God created women to live lives free from senseless violence and inhuman acts of brutality.
  • We avoid partisan politics and are not affiliated with any particular church denomination.

Steps to Accomplishing Our Goal

  1. Empower and equip destitute women to effect change within their communities by sponsoring formal educational programs.
  2. Provide resources to create and implement special activities to combat human rights abuses that involve all segments of society.
  3. Petition governments to stop corruption.
  4. Involve the private sector to exert political pressure.
  5. Call for boycotts to enforce economic pressure.
  6. Cooperate with organizations that share our vision.
  7. Educate and mobilize public opinion to initiate social change.
  8. Access the power of the media to create awareness.

Personal Note from Alice Bratton,
Founder Director of A Woman's Voice, International

"Leave them alone, it's part of their culture . . ."
How often well meaning people repeat those words to me. The same people who would find it inconceivable to say about a starving child. "Leave her alone, hunger is part of her culture."
We all understand and can to some degree identify with the reality of hunger and the physical devastation it brings but we evidently are unfeeling when it comes to crimes that cause intense pain, senseless suffering or even death.
The essence of starvation is that unless we feed children, they perish. How then can we remain silent while thousands of women perish because we refuse to help.
     Women. Mothers. Wives. Daughters.
We all have them. They are important people in our lives and the truth is that there are just not enough of us who care about those who are not are own.
Please consider becoming involved with us because the sad truth is that brutality is not a part of anyone's culture but exists because of our indifference to do anything about it.
                                                                                Very truly yours,
                                                                                Alice Bratton
