Today, the eyes of many are blinded. They cannot see the glory of
the Kitvei Hakodesh and the
Scriptures are a closed book they cannot seem to open. Meanwhile their reading ability is not
at all hampered when it comes to reading the Kabballah
or Zohar, buba maises, Art Scroll gedolim
stories, books about Satanism, writings of wizards, rabbinic oral law baloney
about amulets in the Talmud, various writings about witches, spiritualism, and
occultism. No low reading scores
there.
Let鈥檚 talk about
something beyond our scientific mindset, and ask this question: is there a
personification of the realm of wickedness? Is there a real lurking hostility
called Satan?
Are there such things as fallen
angels or demons?
When I started translating the
OJB, I had to have spiritual music playing to continue (1Sm 19:9). Now I have
to meditate like Rav Shaul, only about Moshiach and nivlato al haEtz (1C 2:2).
This is now my Rev 12:11 shield.
When the devil picks up on
something that you are doing that is distasteful or threatening, he seeks
permission to sift you like wheat. Usually there is an old hurt or a generational iniquity or
some hidden flaw that may be unrecognized even by yourself, but this is where he
attempts to make his entrance. You must not underestimate the depravity of your
flesh (Ro 7:18), that indeed you do have itching ears about some things and
Satan knows what they are. So you are making a big mistake if you leave the
door open for the devil. Like a conniving tenant, it is easier for the landlord
to let him in the door than to get him out. Because of the nature of my work
and my flesh, I have found this about that door: I must, at all times of the day
or night, keep sealed the mashkof and mezzuzot of my heart by meditating on the
Exodus 12:7; Isaiah 53:7 Rev 3:20 Blood of the Lamb there on my heart door day
and night.
The Bible says to hate what is
evil (Ps 97:10). Until you hate your flesh and you also hate the devil, there will always
be a little na茂ve area where Satan can scratch around for an opening. You say, "Why should I hate my flesh?"
Because there is nothing good in it, according to Ro 7:18. You say, "Why should I hate the devil?"
Do you owe him a debt of love? Who was it who lured
you from your innocence?
Satan is not at all bothered with
you until you begin to read the Holy Scriptures. Then a real war begins vis-a-vis
your soul. Then you start reading for your life.
This Yom Kippur, when you fast, take your
stand against the devil. When he tries to make a deal with you (see Luke 4:5-7...
if he tried to make a deal with Moshiach, you don't think he will try to make a deal with you?),
that he will give you all of what he promises, if you will just keep your
reading regimen in his territory
and not venture into pure Holy
Writ, tell him, "Hashem rebuke you, Hasatan." Then
open the Word and refuse to put its
words away from before your gaze.
The Scripture warns you not to give the
devil an opportunity, not to make provision for the flesh, not to
make place for the devil. This
means that you must not harbor any secret or forbidden evil in your heart, you
must cast it on Moshiach, you must place all your sin burdens on him as the sa'ir l'Azazal Yom Kippur Temurah
Scapegoat. He carries away all our
sins. Do not hang on to any sin,
but give it to him and let him carry it away, as it says in Isaiah 53:11-12 and
Vayikra 16:22.
All your occult books, all your hidden imaginations and
wicked secret desires. Turn
them over to him. Let him carry
them away. Make no provision for
the flesh. Do not give the devil an
opportunity. If our flesh is strong within us, we thank G-d for the thorn in the
flesh. The L-rd disciplines those He loves, His true children. This is why, when
our pride is hurt by correction, we still say, "It was good for me that I was afflicted,
that I may learn thy statutes . . . I know, O L-rd, that Thy judgments are
righteous, and that in faithfulness Thou hast afflicted me" (Psalm 119:71,75).
The only thing that matters is keeping ourselves in the love of G-d. If you take the shield of faith and the
belt of truth and the sword of
the Spirit, which is the sharper than a two edged sword Word of
G-d, and you fill you mind with Scripture bringing every thought captive to
obey Moshiach, praying in the spirit, pressing on in
your thought life wearing always the helmet of your salvation, if you sing in the Ruach Hakodesh, daven in the Ruach
Hakodesh, and resist the devil, he will flee from you.
Study the fourth chapter of Matthew and see how
Moshiach put the devil to flight. He used the Sword of the
Spirit. When Satan comes against you with thoughts that are not from G-d, then

Why was Dwight Eisenhower smoking four packs
of cigarettes a day and drinking seven cups of coffee in 1944?聽 He was not only overseeing the planning of
history鈥檚 greatest amphibious military operation--156,000 soldiers鈥 lives at
stake, portable artificial piers or harbors for the coast of France, trucks,
tanks, weapons of every kind, he was also overseeing the largest armada in the history of the
world.聽 Wouldn鈥檛 YOU be uptight?
While other Americans got a good night鈥檚
sleep, Eisenhower worked round the clock. Across the English
Channel lay Nazi Fortress Europe and Hitler presiding聽 over and militarily insolating his running-round-the-clock
Jewish death camps.聽 I slept two hours
only last night.聽 I was praying for the
Jewish 鈥渄eath camps" across the New York City East River Channel, where Hasidic
Ultra-Orthodox 鈥渟htetls鈥 are insolating their inmates from any real Biblical deliverance
from eternal death. 聽
What do I mean,
鈥渟htetls?鈥 聽Shtetl (Yiddish: diminutive form of Yiddish shtot 砖讟讗指讟, "town",
pronounced like "St盲dtle", "little town") was typically a
small Jewish town in pre-Holocaust Central and Eastern
Europe. After WWII the Yiddish-speaking Rebbes fled to Brooklyn with other Holocaust Survivors.聽 These hundreds of thousands of unreached
people constitute the largest untouched virgin mission field in America.
I was talking to an
important Evangelical leader the other day and I told him that the largest
unreached people group [without their own NT] in the U.S. is not the Apaches
and is not on some reservation out West but is, believe it or not, right here
in New York City. Without understanding the details of what God was doing, I
have been working on a Hasidic (Ultra-Orthodox Jewish) YIDDISH translation of
the Greek NT since I got my doctorate at Fuller over thirty years ago. This
necessitated learning Talmudic and Rabbinic literature and languages and many
years of study. There is no NT anywhere in the world that I know of
specifically appropriate for this endogamous ultra-zealous Yiddish-speaking
vast sea of humanity except the one we are now working on and that I have been
preparing with all their relevant pious native euphemism ( i.e., "yires Kavod" which means "the
fear of the L-rd" etc). Last summer 80,000 copies of the DVD
film of the Yiddish translation I worked on of the Warner Brothers screenplay
about Moshiach was mass-mailed to Hasidic homes in Brooklyn where over 300,000
of them live (there are also vast numbers of these Yiddish speakers elsewhere
in Israel
and the world).
When Ananias was dispatched to Saul of
Tarsus on the Street called Straight, it was like being an emissary to one of
the 144,000 (Revelation 7 and 14) who would turn the world upside-down, because
this rabbi Paul the Apostle was no laid-back secularized Jew like Simon Peter
the fisherman, but rather Saul of Tarsus was a r-e-v-v-e-d up motorcyle of a
chasid who would outwrite and outcongregation plant and outrun Peter to Rome.
Believe it or not, some of these Sauls in Boro

Heights are starting to come to faith as
a result of this 80,000 Yiddish Moshiach film mass-mailing. All they need now
is a Shulchan Arukh rabbinically dictioned kosher Yiddish NT, a NT for the 144,000.
Dwight Eisenhower started his assault on the
devil鈥檚 stronghold by drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes.聽 Moshiach started his assault on the devil鈥檚
stronghold by fasting and preaching to the devil.聽 Read Mt 4 and Lk 4.
Look what our Moshiach did.聽 We must do the same.聽 Moshiach fasted. The demonic bonds of iniquity
we face can only be exorcised by prayer and fasting. Mark 9:29. Fasting may be abstaining
from all foods (Act 9:9) or from only certain foods (Daniel 10:3). Fasting may be public (Lev 23:27) or
private (Zech 7:5). It is an act of humility and repentance (Ps 69:10). You are serious enough
about your sin to stop eating. You are re-dedicating yourself (Acts 13:3) for a new level of spiritual warfare. You are seeking the
L-rd with all your heart (Jer 29:13; Ezra 8:23). You are fasting for three days and three nights
in the belly of some whale and you
know you haven't been obeying the L-rd as you should, and you want G-d to relent
of the chastisement He had planned (Jonah 3:5,10). Fasting is your means of sensitizing yourself
to G-d for the purpose of spiritual warfare and prayer against satanic oppression (Isaiah 58:6)
or demonic possession (Matthew 17:21) or as a means of seeking G-d's face more sensitively
for spiritual guidance or revelation (Daniel 9:2,3, 21, 22). Fasting is how we deal with the devil.
Look at how our fasting Moshiach dealt with the devil. Every thought was wrested away from Satan and
taken captive to obey the Father.聽 Notice
that Satan has to be resisted and fended off with Scripture. The Bible is an
arsenal of weaponry and sometimes I have to quote the same verse to the devil
all day long.聽 Satan is a meddler who
uses his wiles to try to trash the work of the L-rd.聽 I have 800 pages of Yiddish to format.聽 Formatting takes me six minutes a page.聽 Do the arithmetic with me.聽 That is 4800 minutes to format the entire
Yiddish NT, or 60 hours.聽 Every hour of
my life that Satan can waste he will. Every soul that perishes is his
delight.聽 He鈥檚 jealous of G-d and has
blinded the Jews.
Don鈥檛 put this matter aside too
casually.聽 What is going on is not
casual.聽 It is war.聽 Eisenhower was all business against the
enemy. 聽He did not have one foot in the
devil鈥檚 camp like some believers. 聽He had
a plan (land on the Normandy
Coast and build up the resources needed for decisive
battles in the Normandy-Brittany region of France
in preparation for the break-out march to Berlin.聽
FDR had already seen the light: nothing less than the total destruction
of the Nazi Fighting Forces would suffice; the mistake of WWI would not be
repeated.)聽 When are we going to see
believers getting serious about doing spiritual warfare?聽
Believers spend thousands of dollars for diversions and peripherals.聽 We must deliver a Yiddish Brit Chadasha to
every Hasid in Boro
Park.
