ABU HANIFAH
Abu Hanifah an-Nu`man was a great
Sunni
Imam
and expert in Law. He is the founder of the Hanifi sect, and his
teachings are generally accepted in Turkey, the Tartary and India.
His father, Sabit, was a silk trader in al-Kufah, and his grandfather,
Zuta, was said to be from Kabul. Abu Hanifah was born in al-Kufah in
A.H. 80 (A.D. 700) and died in Baghdad in A.H. 150. He was regarded as
a great teacher. His famous disciples include Imam Abu Yusu and Imam
Muhammad. He was also highly praised by Imam Malik for his logical
arguments.
